Overview / Usage

UnWrapper is fully automatic UV unwrapper for arbitrary topology models. It is mainly for game development with complex intricate models. UnWrapper is licensed to game development studios so that it can be integrated in to the content creation pipeline. Unwrapper exists both in UI version and a command line version. For I/O it uses wavefront .obj files.

Methodology / Approach

Unwrapper used a range of different algorithms to handle, hard edged, smooth or flat surfaces. It tries to emulate how artist UV map models by hand. Unwrapper is optimized for quality not speed, but can still unwrap tens of thousands of polygons in a few seconds. While it is intended to be fully automatic, it does have some settings for disabling features, light mapping and texture resolution.
